Sophie and Rob’s wedding at Norton Park Hotel, Winchester
I met Sophie and Rob at Norton Park at the Captivating Events wedding fayre back in 2016 and what they liked about me was that I was not a pushy photographer who ‘sold’ myself to them… I just let them take their time to look at my wedding albums and answer any questions they had. They wanted a photographer who was going to blend into their wedding day but to capture they day just how they remembered it. I was delighted when they booked me.
What I love about being a wedding photographer is that I share such a special moment in a couple’s life journey and it is even more special when I feel like I will be part of the bride and groom’s life journey going forward. They are more than a bride and groom for one day; they become my friends. I definitely feel that way about Sophie and Rob. I will always have fond memories of their wedding day and the photographs I have captured.
The weather forecast wasn’t great for their special day – such a shame as the weather had been beautiful leading up to their wedding. The weather didn’t spoil Sophie and Rob’s day one bit – although saying that we were lucky and didn’t get any rain.
One of my favourite parts of a wedding day is the ‘bride getting ready’ – maybe it is just a girlie thing. I love the excitement of the wedding morning, the hair and makeup transformation of the bride. Sophie had a few tears that morning, tears of joy. She played her ‘walking down the aisle’ song by Etta James as the bridesmaid practiced walking down the aisle…..She had to stop as she couldn’t stop her emotional tears. Katie, from Beauty Infinity, did an amazing job of Sophie’s hair and makeup… Regardless of any tears, Sophie looked beautiful on her wedding day – such a stunning bride – Rob will be blown away when he sees Sophie walking down the aisle.
What I like about Norton Park is that is has three different venue types all in one location. It has the beautiful manor house where Sophie got ready with her bridesmaids and then the rustic barn for the ceremony. I loved the sunflower themed. I took home some sunflowers and have planted them but unfortunately they haven’t grown as yet (there is hope yet). The lighting inside the barn was amazing! The barn looked so pretty. The ceremony was lovely and Sophie was beaming.
Although not a sunny day, Sophie and rob got to have their drinks reception by the Manor House. I wanted to make sure we got some amazing bride and groom photographs just in case we were faced with rain. I love the bride and groom photographs. We even managed to get the group photographs taken too.
Everything was perfect about Sophie and Rob’s wedding day and I was delighted to capture their special day.
