The drizzly rain on Jennie and Phil’s wedding day certainly didn’t put a dampener on their special day. I had such an amazing time taking Jennie and Phil’s wedding photographs at Cricklade House. Jennie and Phil were married at St Leonards Church, Blunsdon and then had their wedding reception at Cricklade House. A perfect venue combination for a perfect wedding!
There was a definite buzz and excitement at Jennie’s mum’s house with the girls getting ready. I don’t think I have seen such a relaxed bride for quite some time. It was raining outside but Jennie wasn’t worried about the weather in the slightest; I’m sure I did more rain-monitoring than Jennie. To be honest I don’t think Jennie took much notice of the weather outside. She was beaming with smiles all morning and don’t think she actually stopped smiling all day. Jennie’s bridesmaids Laura and Natalie had made her a special book with photographs of lots of shared times together. It really did go to show how close Jennie is to her bridesmaids. One of the big surprises in the special book was that Natalie had managed to win their case with the airline that didn’t allow the girls on the plane for Jennie’s hen do a few months ago. So Jennie gets to do her hen weekend later in the year. I’m sure all the girls will have an amazing time in Valencia. The girls gave Jennie her present from Phil – a beautiful bracelet with some special words in a card for their special day.
I love taking the bridal detail photographs and what a stunning wedding dress Jennie had chosen from Harmony Brides in Swindon. The choice of wedding dress for Jennie was a Lilian West ivory 6340 dress; a beautiful chiffon with embroidered lace, beaded appliques fit and flare dress accented with a Queen Anne neckline. Jennie loved the detail of the dress and especially the back of the dress. It was no surprise that her dad was blown away by how gorgeous his daughter looked in her stunning bridal dress. He definitely was a very proud Father of the Bride.
Wow I just loved Jennie’s flowers… It’s always a lovely to see what flowers arrive and I get to take photographs of the flowers with the other bridal assessories. I wasn’t disappointed… a beautifully tied arrangement of cupcake roses and chrystal blush calla lillies complimented Jennie’s beautiful dress. Heather from George Lesley Flowers in Swindon did such an amazing job. The flowers looked stunning captured against Jennie’s Debut bridal shoes. The soft pastel pink and creams of the flowers was a great contrast against the bridesmaids’ royal blue dresses.
I love it when a bride keeps to some traditional values for her wedding day. Jennie made sure that she had ‘something blue’, ‘something old’, ‘something new’and ‘something borrowed’….
Something blue – blue on garter
Something old – borrowed hair clip from Natalia used to use when they danced together as children
Borrowed Handbag from Laura that Laura also used on her wedding day
Something new – ‘I do’ stickers for her shoes.
Jennie’ hair look utterly gorgeous! Jennie had a regular hairdresser Shelley from Slinky Hair Salon do her hair and it is was clear that Shelley wouldn’t have missed Jennie’s wedding for the world. Jennie had booked Denise from Cerise Health and Beauty to do her makeup and without a doubt Jennie’s makeup was just perfect for her – just so natural.
It’s also interesting to find out how a couple’s story began. Phil and Jennie met at the local pub Heart in Hand in Blunsdon, Swindon, which also happened to be Phil’s parents’ pub. Jennie’s bridesmaid Natalie had introduced Jennie to their group and it seemed that Natalie was the last to know that Jennie and Phil had been seeing each other without their friends knowing. With the Heart in Hand having such an important part of Jennie and Phil’s getting together, it was inevitable that the pub should be the place where Phil should gather before the wedding ceremony with his friends and family.
I teamed up with photographer Joseph Dart from Joseph Dart photography to take the groom-before-ceremony photographs. Joseph did an amazing job and love the natural photographs of Phil; truly show his character. The guys look fantastic in their suits hired from Garry Andrew of Swindon. One of my favourite photographs at the pub is of Phil’s dad standing at the door of the pub. It feels like a photograph in history – The Heart in Hand landlord 2016.
The guys then had a very short walk from the pub down to the church where I met the guys. All eyes were on Jennie as she walked down the aisle – still smiling. I love the photograph I captured of Jennie and Phil’s first sight of each other. I had no doubt how happy they both are together. A very nervous vicar didn’t allow me to take photographs of the bride and groom during the ceremony but Joseph did manage to get some sneaky photographs for a distance on the balcony. The ceremony was beautiful. Unfortunately it was raining as Jennie and Phil left the church but the avenue of trees towards the church gate gave great shelter for going ahead with the confetti photo shoot.
The driveway to Cricklade House is amazing and perfect to capture the bride and groom arriving at the venue in their bridal car. Jennie and Phil made a great choice of bridal car, an Imperial Landaulet, from Function Cars of Purton. The rain eased off a little as Jennie and Phil arrived at the venue and was so lucky to get some photographs outside.
We took the opportunity of the break in the weather to go to the secret garden at Cricklade House to take bride and groom photographs. It was during these photographs that Phil surprised Jennie with an extra present of a Michael Kors bag and inside was the reveal of where they were going on their honeymoon. Phil had booked the honeymoon but Jennie had no idea where was was going. I loved Jennie’s expression of excitement. So the destination was Thailand!
The wedding reception was lovely and I got to take some many natural photographs of the guest enjoying the day. The venue decorations looked amazing. The cake from Jelly Cake in Wiltshire was stunning and individually designed to compliment the style of the venue decoration. I loved the sparkling J&P on the top tier. The speeches were great and loved the duo act of Paul and Phil’s brother Dan telling the stories of Phil when he was a lad. Although Phil didn’t believe some of the stories were that accurate but the Coca Cola fridge brought back memories for Phil!
It was such a pleasure to be asked to take Jennie and Phil’s wedding photographer and so pleased they love their wedding photographs and they bring back lots of happy memories of their wedding day.
