Love your Skin… Facials in preparation for your wedding day

Love your Skin….Pamper Party Aboard the Cruise Ship!

I absolutely loved my recent cruise trip to the Caribbean and when you have a day at sea, why not go along to the pamper party. Of course it was a taster for you to visit the on board Spa, have a treatment and no doubt buy some ‘home-treatments’.   So we get asked what products we use as part of our skin care regime. I could have made something up but totally honest and said soap and water; just like my Mum has done all her life.   Seeing the error of my ways, and not getting any younger I really do need to take care of my skin. I go for a consultation, facial and come home with some new facial products.   My skin was dehydrated and I must admit since being home and starting my new beauty regime morning and night, my skin does feel so much softer.

So thinking of my brides, I was wondering how many brides will invest in a facial before their wedding day. The beauty therapist on the cruise ship said that most women are willing to spend money on clothes, shoes and bags etc but few will spend money on taking good care of their skin.

Brides want to have a radiant complexion for their wedding day and facials are not always part of the wedding budget. Amazing looking makeup starts with a good skin routine.

As you can probably gather, I am no expert on skin care routines and products so have asked Laura from Taylored Beauty to provide some information for brides and why it is important to have a facial and especially in preparation for their wedding day.

“A facial is important because it exfoliates and hydrates the skin causing it to look brighter and gives a glowing effect to the skin. After gentle cleansing the skin we steam to open the pores whilst exfoliating to remove dead skin cells and impurities. Pevonia is fantastic as contains no alcohol mineral oil or lanolin. The products are able to deeply penetrate the skin causing repair and ultra hydration using micronised plant extracts that work in synergy with the skin but are small enough to be fully absorbed rather than sitting on the surface of your skin which is essential not to cause clogging.

After exfoliation we use prescriptive products based on your skin type to help target your personal skin concerns. A massage and mask follows to allow an utterly indulgent luxury facial. Your skin will not only look and feel hydrated and firmer but the long-term effects of regular facials are proven.

Occasionally your skin can break out after a facial and for that reason we recommend a course of 6 facials one every 3-4 weeks in the run up to the wedding. By that time any breakouts should have subsided and your skin will look at its best. If that’s not possible of course a one of facial can still be of benefit.

Approximately 4-6 weeks before the wedding to ensure deep exfoliation so that make up sits on the skin better on the day and gives you a natural flawless glow.

For brides we recommend the following home care/products: (although could vary dependant on skin type) Enzyme peeling cream to continue a weekly exfoliation at home Phyto gel cleanser: foaming face wash to ensure skin is thoroughly cleaned morning and night Phyto aromatic mist to be used as a toner to remove make up and hydrate the skin as contains hyaluronic acid which helps retain 1000 times its weight in water within the skin cells causing plump and healthy hydrated skin Marine collagen cream / reactive skin care cream as a moisturiser light enough to wear daily under make up or at night as a skin boost. Lumafirm cream to give a flawless look by brightening and firming the skin.”

Thank you Laura for some great advice for brides.
