It was a pleasure to photograph the opening ceremony of Flat Spaces in Hampshire this morning. Flat Spaces was founded by Tom Yendell (Founder and Chairman of Trustees of Flat Spaces). The official launch and the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon took place by Alan Titchmarsh MBE DL.
Tom formed a collaboration with a Polish house builder with the aim of building fully accessible state-of-the-art holiday homes for people with severe disabilities. A board member of the International Mouth and Foot Painters Association, Tom Yendell came up with the idea of ‘Flat Spaces’ following a conference several years ago in the USA.
The opening ceremony was a huge success and attended by not only trustees and members of the Flat Spaces Foundation, but also Cllr Patrick Burridge (Chairman of East Hampshire), Tony Reid CEO Treloars, Danwood Senior executives and other key members of the community.
Tom and his wife Lucy had worked extremely hard at getting the bungalow ready for the launch and it was fantastic to be able to take the interior photographs prior to the launch for marketing and promotion of the holiday bungalow.
The Polish timber -frame house builder, Danwood, made such a good job of building Tom’s own home in Alton, Hampshire for himself and his family he decided to approach them with the idea.
The first Flat Spaces bungalow has been built in Ropley, Hampshire and are now available for rental.
