Choosing your perfume for your wedding…

Choosing your perfume for your wedding can be easier for some brides than others. There maybe a connection with a particular brand, fragrance or even a story behind the chosen perfume.   Some brides will treat themselves to a new bottle of their favourite perfume or others will look for something that is quite unique for their wedding day.   A bride will consider what they like, what their groom likes and how your perfume will last during your wedding day. The smell of your perfume will always be a part of your wedding day memories.

I will always try to take a photograph of the wedding perfume as part of the bride getting ready detail photographs. I have shared with you towards the end of this blog post some of the perfumes that Jennifer’s brides were wearing in 2016.

I thought I would share with you my choice of fragrance.  For me my number one choice is La Vie est Bell from Lancome with a strapline of ‘Life is Beautiful’. Lancome state ‘A fragrance of happiness and joyful femininity, discover La Vie est Belle. Delicate magnolia runs through the entire collection as a symbol of new beginnings of happiness’. For me this perfume is so soft and delicate and represents who I am and my brand. I love it!   I quite often get compliments that I smell nice and someone once said to me ‘it is so you’

The elegance and beauty of the Lancome fragrance is portrayed by their brand ambassadress, Julia Roberts who so beautiful and has such an amazing smile. Julia is an amazing lady and so admired for her beauty, talent and also her success as a career mum.

With the magnolia scent running through the perfume, I asked my favourite florist Rhoda from Heaven Scent Flowers about what the magnolia scent meant for her. It’s funny how Rhoda mentions below that one of her favourite quotes from the film of Steel Magnolia’s is ‘I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.” By Shelby who was played by Julia Roberts.

“Jennifer asked me to write something about magnolias, which I have always been drawn to since I was young, but not 100% why besides the gorgeous big spring tree blossoms that signal spring is here. As a florist you can imagine I like a lot of flowers though, and very hard sometimes to narrow down exactly which one is my favourite as I love so many for different reasons.

I know I absolutely had to buy a little magnolia tree called ‘Heaven Scent’ when I saw one a few years ago, which happened to be at the same time as when I launched my florist business by the same name.

We planted a tree when each of our children was born and my little business though not a child has some similarities. So each year as my business grew, I also saw more and more blossoms on this tree with excitement because it seemed to represent my business growing taller and blooming with more and more buds as a little symbol of my happy clients growing.

I looked on Pinterest to gather inspiration for what to write and why I feel connected to magnolias. I came across the link with the film ‘Steel Magnolias’. I found a two quotes relating to the movie shared below.  Magnolias for me brought back the memory of this poignant story that although has some sad bits, really did show the beauty in life and how important the connections with friends is in good times and bad.

The first one is “ I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.” By Shelby (played by Julia Roberts)

The other quote I found is a short poem that eloquently states why magnolias are so special and ties the magnolia flower, the Steel magnolia movie and me all together is as follows

Steel Magnolia

Breath-taking,

Delicate beauty

Of creamy perfection

With Roots Running Deep

In Southern Soil,

A history almost

As old as time

And endurance

As tough as

Steel;

She defies description

And explanation

But….

Beaut

y is its own excuse.

My Magnolia Memories and Musings in Poems

Having also chosen La Vie Est Belle as a Christmas gift from my husband, I love the connection with this stunning flower. I feel the fragrance is really me and perhaps the reason why Lancome chose Julia Roberts to represent this fragrance. I had no idea it had anything to do with magnolias, but I am so glad to have discovered why it is so special to me.  Just extraordinary….” by Rhoda of Heaven Scent Flowers

I love the La Vie Est Belle story that Rhoda and I have just shared.

Here are some of the fragrances chosen by Jennifer’s brides in 2016.

Coco Mademoiselle – An oriental fragrance with a strong personality, yet surprisingly fresh.
Sparks of fresh and vibrant orange immediately awaken the senses. A clear and sensual heart reveals the transparent accords of Jasmine and Rose. The trail unfurls the pure accents of Patchouli and Vetiver that emphasise the slender structure of the composition.

Michael Kors Glam – Alluring, overtly feminine Glam Jasmine Eau de Parfum, featuring a lush bouquet of jasmine, tempered by sandalwood and sweetened with cassis. It’s nothing short of fabulous.

Miss Dior – “For a perfume to have lasting hold, it needs to first hold the heart of its creator.” Miss Dior is the fragrance Christian Dior cherished, the one he nurtured for a long time before it was revealed. The perfume of boldness, renewal and freedom. Miss Dior is a trail and a face. A fervid heart throbbing.

Carolina Herrera NYC – 212 is an aroma that opens up a new world of sensations; a concept, the success of synthesis, a modern and innovative fragrance which is, at the same time, very feminine and elegant. Freshness, transparency and elegance combine to adapt to the style of the modern woman. Its dominant notes are floral, bright and light petals and stems of flowers of the top notes, and they combine to perfection with the sensual richness of the base notes of sandalwood and white musk. The gardenia has this metallic touch that conveys the modernity of this urban fragrance.

Evoking mystery, attraction, and exquisite desire, NARCISO embodies the scent of seduction.
